Valdosta, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's golf team shot a 336 score Monday in the opening round of the Thomas University Invitational at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

That score left the Mariners in seventh place on the team scoreboard after the first round of the 36-hole event which closes Tuesday with the second and final round.

University of Cumberlands jumped to the top of the leaderboard with a 6-over-par 294 score while Dalton State shot 298 and trails by four shots. Those two teams were the only ones to break 300 in the first round.

Cumberland University is third at 315, Campbellsville is fourth at 316 and Lindsey Wilson and Southeastern are tied for fifth at 319.

The field is comprised of 10 teams. Following the Mariners is Spring Hill at 350, Ave Maria at 352 and Thomas University (B) at 371.

For Coastal Georgia, Kylee Wheeler was the low player, shooting 6-over 78. She is tied for 13th overall.

Also for the Mariners, Megan Ramer shot 82 and is 28th, Molly Antor shot 83 and is 29th, Megan Collins shot 93 and is 46th and Kinsley Dowling shot 96 and is 48th.

Kaitlyn Riley and Lucia Pena from Cumberlands lead the field after shooting 68 and 70, respectively.

Dalton State's Heather Nail is third after shooting a 71.

Those three players were the only ones from the field of 54 who broke par on day one.
