Brunswick, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia men's and women's tennis teams competed in the ITA Regional Championships this past week held at Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla.

With all players competing individually in singles and doubles, several Coastal Georgia players turned in solid performances in the event.

For the Coastal Georgia men, Matthew Hulme won two matches in the main draw before falling in the quarterfinals.

Kenta Naka won the consolation draw on the men's side, defeating teammate Khanyakweze Ramokgopa in the finals after he also played his way to the championship match in the back draw.

Also Naka and Hulme teamed together in doubles to reach the semifinals of the main draw before falling 8-6 to the top-seeded duo in the tournament.

Also for the men, Ben Dolan reached the quarterfinals of the back draw while Eric Gravelle also competed for the Mariners.

On the women's side, Jasmine Carswell won her first two matches in the main draw before falling while Lindsey Lawing also won her opening match in the singles main draw.

Also for the Coastal Georgia women, Sonja Wind played into the finals of the back draw before falling again.

Carswell teamed with Samantha Lasslett to win the doubles back draw.

Coastal Georgia coach Zach Rogers said he was happy about the results for his players.

"I wish we could have played a little better, but we did pretty well considering the setup as there were a lot of matches back-to-back and of course our kids hadn't practiced that much because of the hurricane.

"Our kids got quality matches and our freshmen players got some experience. We saw what we need to work on to get better going forward."
