St. Simons Island, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's golf team opened play Monday at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational with a 337 score at the King and Prince Golf Course.

That score left the No. 25 Mariners in seventh place after the opening round of the two-day event which annually kicks off the spring season for Coastal Georgia.

Cumberland is the tournament leader after 18 holes as it shot 320 to grab the 18-hole lead. SCAD-Atlanta is second after shooting 324, Faulkner and Thomas are both third at 328 and Southeastern is fifth at 329. St. Andrews is just ahead of the Mariners at 333.

Raquel Romero from Cumberland is also the individual leader. She shot 74 over the opening 18. Lauren Holder from Eastern Florida State shot 75 and thus trails by one on the leaderboard while Lydia Randell from St. Andrews is two strokes off the lead after shooting 76 on Monday.

For Coastal Georgia, which is playing only four players, Niquole Mangal posted the low round with a 79 and is tied for fifth individually. Madison Manning shot 84, Molly Antor shot 85 and Ana Mashevsky 86.

The second and final round is set for Tuesday.
