Pulaski, Tenn. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's basketball team absorbed a 62-41 loss Saturday at Martin Methodist in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup.
The loss was the third in a row for the Mariners who fell to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the SSAC.
The RedHawks ran their record to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in early league play.
Coastal Georgia trailed the home squad 16-8 after the opening quarter and was down 34-22 at halftime. Martin Methodist put away the game by outscoring the Mariners 21-8 in the third period to take a 55-30 cushion into the final stanza.
Kenya Holiday finished as Coastal Georgia's top scorer with 11 points while Hannah Riley also reached double figures as she finished with 10 points.
Riley also led the Mariners on the backboard with 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Lynsey Washington had nine boards in the loss for the Mariners.
For Martin Methodist, Jemia Carpenter led all scorers with 18 points while also leading her team on the glass with eight rebounds.
Three others also scored in double figures for Martin Methodist.
Coastal Georgia will return home next week for a pair of league games. The Mariners will host Blue Mountain on Thursday before hosting William Carey on Saturday.
